Oorja -An inter school event
DPSG Palam Vihar, the recipient of the Green School Award hosted OORJA’ 2018 an Inter School Competition, in association with NISE (The National Institute Of Solar energy, Government of India. ) on 4th August, 2018.
The school has been synonymous with various environment friendly initiatives and to uphold this legacy, the school hosted a plethora of activities to promote ambassadors of the green belt in the genre of performing art, visual art, animation, infographics and in the French linguistic domain.
While the theme for visual art, performing art and the French fiesta was igniting the solar within, the team of animation experts worked on movie making using flash and presentation using Sway to promote a green cover. The Science brigade worked on infographics and worked as the conservation congregation. This noble endeavour was to promote and inculcate the virtues of the four Rs- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Replenish.
A host of luminaries from the National Institute Of Solar Energy inaugurated the event with Shri Vivek Saxena, Officer on Special Duty-cum-Chief General Manager, Haryana Forest Development Corporation, New Delhi and Additional Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, and Shri Arun Kumar Tripathi, the Director General, National Institute of Solar Energy and a member of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, GOI as the guests of honour. This mega event saw the participation of 473 contestants from more than 20 different schools across the three states of Haryana, Delhi & Uttar Pradesh.
The goal of this competition was to create awareness about renewable energy and energy efficiency and the students effectively upheld the competencies like Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Character Building and Citizenship. Envisaged by the dynamic principal, Ms. Deepika Sharma, this event was indeed a feather in the cap for the school.
